As part of their Hootie’s Lending Library initiative, Beach Place Hooters employees Gracie Williams, Chyna Veitch and Letticia Batista had the opportunity to visit patients at Broward Health Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital on June 5. During the visit the group delivered over 100 children’s books plus meals consisting of boneless wings, salad and desserts. They also gave each child a Summer themed decorated bucket with arts and crafts supplies.
“Visiting the Salah Children’s Hospital is one of the most incredible experiences. As I currently seek a career in the medical field, these experiences are extremely valuable and rewarding, “ said Gracie Williams who works at Beach Place Hooters.
“Being able to put a smile on a child’s face was really amazing. Meeting the families is something I’ll never forget. The kids were so sweet, so brave and so appreciative,” said Letticia Batista who works at Beach Place Hooters.
“Working for a company that allows me to experience moments like this will forever bring me joy. I love seeing all of the babies and adolescents get excited over books, toys and meals. I will do this again in a heartbeat. Nothing is better than seeing someone else happy,” said Chyna Veitch who works at Beach Place Hooters.
“Our employees enjoy partnering with our local children’s hospitals year round including Broward Health Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital. We created the Hootie’s Lending Library program to provide books for the kids to read when they are in the hospital and every month we are always adding new books. Our kitchen staff, Hooters Girls and managers enjoy the opportunity to prepare the meals for the hospital staff and deliver the books and visit the children,” said South Florida Hooters Director of Marketing Kristi Quarles.
Every month the South Florida Hooters restaurants donate more books and meals as part of their community partnership with local hospitals. Hooters has provided Holtz Children’s Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital with custom library carts for Hootie’s Lending Library” in the Pediatric ER. Each rolling library cart is filled with books for children of all ages. Every month the restaurant donates hundreds of books. Since 2022, Hootie’s Lending Library has provided over 8,000 books to the local hospitals.
